    FRESNO, Calif. - If it wasn't official before, it is now: Strikeforce lightweight Jorge Gurgel (13-6) uses his Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt to wrap his hands. Despite the proven striking prowess of hometown fighter Billy Evangelista (10-0), Gurgel stood toe-to-toe with his opponent for 15 minutes but lost for the third time in his past four outings. The bout served as the main event of the Showtime-broadcast "Strikeforce Challengers IV: Evangelista vs. Gurgel" event that took place in front of an announced 4,157 spectators at Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif.

Like that CBS-televised event, today's weigh-ins took place at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill., near Chicago. Among those weighing in were Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers, who meet in a heavyweight main event, and Jake Shields and Jason "Mayhem" Miller, who fight for Strikeforce's vacant middleweight title.

    We meet Cliff J. Snake on this trip and we all went big. We all jumped from the 70 foot cliff and Jesse even ended up busting his A*S. We had a great time and can't wait to go back to Rindge Dam and do some more Extreme Cliff Jumping there.

    Travis recorded this and captured it for me. Thanks, it's not everyday a friend can you record live on TV! The tv crew from Al Exito! TV, KWHY Telemundo, followed the Skeleton Crew back to the Punchbowls where we showed them what Extreme Cliff Jumping was all about. The day was perfect for filming but the cold September air dissuaded most of the S.C.K. from going on this mission but they used some footage shot by the webmaster himself.

    I had everything going against me... My lifting partner cancelled. You can always do more and be pushed more, it feels like, with somebody else yelling at you that doesn't have the weight on their back. MY ipod was dead. In order to go off into a world of chains, barbells, weight plates, and sweat... it helps to have screaming and music. It's almost like white noise except with a beat and words. And having headphones in also deters people from distracting me during my workout.     Every year hundreds of beach goers and surfers go into surf conditions which are past their limits and boundaries. This puts lifeguard’s and their lives at risk. I have seen this countless times before and I cringe every time I know that someone is going to be a rescuer for a lifeguard. An example of this is when California gets a strong south swell.     Surfing in the winter can be a test of a surfers dedication to the sport and tolerance of cold water. It is not pleasant and sometimes down right extreme. Sometimes winter rewards surfers with great waves and other times there are no waves. There are many tricks and tips to staying warm and avoid hypothermia. Some of these tips are expensive such as an expensive and thick heated wetsuit. However, my favorite and free trick is “Stay Active – Stay Warm” By staying active you will stay warmer.     What was purposed a few years ago was a Florida’s surfers dream come true. It was also every other surfers dream coming true. A state of the art surf park with two sperate wave pools.     One of the most difficult things to make yourself do is to catch steep and fast waves. They are hard to catch because you have to catch them in such a cruical spot on the wave. You have to commit to going otherwise you can catch the wave even if you stop paddling and then get sucked over the falls.When catching steep waves you want to catch the wave near the bottom, rather than near the top.     In between shooting photos for the Iraq article in the magazine this month, Walter Pieringer shot some video footage on his DSLR of his traveling companions getting attacked by dogs, riding in helicopters, and blowing shit up in the desert. He cut together this edit to try to convey a little bit of what it was like traveling to a war zone to ride BMX bikes.
