For the last few years, I’d say that the majority of post on Spinneyhead have been photos. I’ve not been very talkative, and taking pictures on my phone, then sending them to Flickr to be cross-posted to the blog has been easy. However, the last three pictures I sent to Flickr (four if you count the one I sent twice as a test) didn’t make it to the blog. It looks like cross-posting is broken. Until I can find out where the process is falling down, Spinneyhead may be photoless. I might actually have to start talking to you again.

Yeah! Finally our dream of riding Marty Mcfly’s hoverboard from Back to The Future II may be closer than we think. Remember back to that hover board stunt earlier in the year with Tony Hawk and Doc (Christopher Lloyd) himself? Well that involved wires and CGI, but this hoverboard actually works…kind of! A little hover technology company called Hendo have created a real, working hoverboard. The founders of Hendo, Jill and Greg Henderson have poured their life savings into hover technology and are hoping to create new industries based on the science. The magic behind the…

GoPro has a new product line in 2014. I have already wrote a review about the GoPro Hero 4 Black. You can read my GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition review here. Today, I want to talk about another brand-new product by GoPro. Its name is GoPro Hero. Not 3+, not 4 or something. GoPro Hero is a very good action camera who doesn’t want/need premium quality (like 4K as it is in GoPro Hero 4), but a cheap one. With a price of only $129.99, you can now own a GoPro. I really liked the idea. GoPro Hero only weighs 111 grams. It still has a fair enough video and photo quality. If you say “I…

I have always loved the idea of breathing both from my mouth and nose underwater. No dry throat after a dive, no jaw fatigue and no cold face! Beyond these, you can even communicate with your buddy if you use the proper equipment within your full face mask. Sounds cool, doesn’t it? Using a full face mask during your dives is very comfortable. However, most full face mask owners (including me) complain about the seal. If your full face mask doesn’t seal well, you consume more air, cannot effectively communicate with your buddy/boat and of course it is very uncomfortable to clear…

    15 Oct 2014 | 12:00 pm
Most kids bring a bag of some sort to the skatepark everytime they go. If you dont do this, you should. Coming from years of my mom dropping me off at the park everyday I know what I need to bring with me inside my backpack. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. It could be a two string backpack or a nice heavy duty backpack. You just need something that will hold your things so you dont lose or…

  • Knowing the right bar size to ride

    10 Oct 2014 | 12:00 pm
One of the biggest debates I hear in the scooter industry is about bar size. Whether it be “your bars are too small” or “your bars are too wide” it seems like someone is always complaining. Ok, but I have a little bit of a better answer if you read below.   In all honesty it is up to you; however there is a general rule. The rule is that bars should go up to about your waist or a little below and they should be about your shoulder length wide. What do I…

    15 Oct 2014 | 1:52 am
Widely known as the Island of Mastiha and the “fragrant” island of the Aegean, mostly because of the aroma of the unique Natural Chios Mastiha (a product of Protected Destination of Origin) and the lovely citrus fruits that are produced in the area of Kampos, Chios has a lot to offer to the restless and curious traveler. Chios lies in the East Aegean, very close to the Asia Minor coast (only 3.5 nautical miles from the Erithrea peninsula in Cesme). • Real Hoverboard Revealed

    Ben
    21 Oct 2014 | 7:35 am
The magic behind the…
  • Biggest Walrus Gathering ever Recorded

    Ben
    21 Oct 2014 | 5:52 am
Screen grab from USGS video. Biologists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have photographed the largest gathering of Pacific walruses ever recorded, on a beach in northern Alaska. The gathering, known as a haul-out, consisted of an estimated 35,000 females and calves and happened north of the village of Point Lay, on the Chukchi Sea coast, Alaska at the end of September 2014. The main cause for the huge Walrus haul-out is likely climate change. Big walrus gatherings have been documented before and while climate change skeptics note this point, scientists say…
  • Trek the Great Barrier Reef and more with Google Maps

A friendly sea turtle caught on the ‘reef-view’ camera. Screen grab from video. A while back Google made the leap, with it’s street view technology, from urban areas into the wild, when it captured the Colorado River into it’s Google Maps database so that people could explore some of the landscape from the other side of the globe. That was pretty cool, but this is even cooler. By teaming up with the Catlin Seaview Survey, a number of incredibly beautiful underwater worlds, including the Great Barrier Reef (Australia), Hanuma Bay in Hawaii and the Galapagos Islands,…

Pure stoke – that feeling that all of us surfer’s, skateboarders and mountain bikers search for every time we jump on that board or bike. Luckily this guys has come to our rescue and eloquently explains what stoke feels like to a news reporter. So next time a friends asks “why do you surf” just jump online and show them this video. • Kelly Slater’s 540 in Peniche, Portugal

    Ben
    20 Oct 2014 | 6:20 am
Kelly Slater and Gabriel Medina’s surprise exit in Round 3 of the Rip Curl Pro Portugal left me a bit disappointed. But then I looked back at Kelly’s 540 during a free-surf in Peniche, Portugal, though Hurley are claiming is a 720 with the foam spin, and I was like..”Go Kelly”. So now I’m frothing for title race conclusion at the Billabong Pipe Masters in Hawaii. Anyway, that 540 from Kelly was so awesome – really clean and inverted. I think the reaction of Brett Simpson and Kolohe Andino in Hurley’s Tournote’s video, above, pretty much sums it…
