These indoor farms look cool. They’re not hydroponics, which the builder thinks is too complex for general adoption, but use a “smart soil” to regulate water use and nutrient release. I don’t think they’d work in the world I’m building for my current story, but I could imagine them in some of the better off parts of the world I created for Sounds of Soldiers. Oscar de la Hoya and Shane Mosley are two of the greatest boxers of all time, but neither man could defeat Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao, who will collide this upcoming Saturday night (May 2, 2015) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather claimed de la Hoya's WBC light middleweight title in 2007 and Pacquiao retired him one year later, making "Golden Boy" quit on his stool after eight rounds of relentless abuse. Mosley, meanwhile, rocked "Money" twice back in 2010 en route to a unanimous decision loss, and then suffered a similar result months later against "Pac…

I didn’t watch the opposition leaders’ debate on Thursday, but I’m guessing that it didn’t go so well for head Kipper Nigel Farage. I can tell this by the number of UKIPies whining about the “Left-leaning” bias of the studio audience. Here, for instance, is Salford UKIP’s moan. They complain that Of the 200-strong audience, about 58 were Conservative or Ukip supporters while about 102 backed left-leaning parties – Labour, the Lib Dems, SNP, Plaid Cymru or the SNP. The rest – 40 – described themselves as undecided. The Daily UKIP (Express) put it…

This upcoming Saturday (May 2, 2015), the two era-defining boxers will collide inside MGM Grand Garden Arena to headline a pay-per-view (PPV) so huge it will cost as much as $99 to watch. It's the big one. The one we've all been waiting for. The one that will save boxing. Still ... even if it's passed its ideal expiration date. In Nov.

Sometimes people want to ride Lucky parts with other parts and they dont fit correctly. The only time a lucky part or any part for that matter is not going to fit correctly is if the fork is too long for the head tube. If your fork is too long for your headtube it requires you to use a lot of spacers or cutting your fork down. No one wants to do it either but depending on the parts you…

I do not think that you are prepared enough to enjoy so many ways of cooked food and combinations of meat and herbs. And that is only a part of the things to do in Istanbul . We just came back and we wanted to start telling you about all the things we experienced. We decided to dedicate a whole article especially to the food and some of the beverages of Istanbul (or otherly known as Constantinople), since the city is well known for those. We will also write about the sight-seeings and the stories behind them as there are a ton of things to do in Istanbul when it comes to learn its history.
  • Why Greeks Crack Eggs on Easter and Roast Everything

    9 Apr 2015 | 4:30 am
First of all Greeks do not need to wait for Easter to roast things. They call some friends, and then make a fire with wood and coals in minutes and through a few pieces of meat on it. It is called a “tsibousi”, a festivity. Throw in a few beers, some non-bottled –yet still great- wine, some “ntolmadakia”, hard boiled eggs and cheese and a salad and some fries and the party is on, baby! However Easter is another special occasion for Greeks. It is combined with a week of fasting (for many it has started 40 days prior that week), and tops with a great celebration of the Resurrection.
  • 6 Megalithic Monuments of Greece You Didn’t Know

Let’s dive into a wonderful part of the ancient history of Greece! Mega… what? Surprisingly the word Megalithic means “Big Stones” and the word itself is actually Greek like many used in science. They are also known as Cyclopic (origins from the word Cyclop, who refers to a race of Greek giants). You may have read about Cyclop Polyfimos from the Odyssey. While with the word Megalithic people tend to believe it is about building type of constructions, it is also used for other types of construction works like tunnels and more. So, there are those of “Stonehenge…
  • 48 Hours Thessaloniki’s Multicultural Spirit

It is called “The Bride of Thermaikos”, the “Loveable City”, or “The City to Eat the Best Brioche or Bougatsa in Greece”. But Thessaloniki is much more. People here know each other and really know how to have fun in this geographically well placed city of Greece! Thessaloniki is the second largest city of Greece. It’s like a huge open museum where Greek, Roman and Byzantine antiquities can be found in every step of the city’s historic center. What would you do if you only had 48 hours to spend? Here is a list of suggestions. 1. Visit the White Tower,…

  • Paddling a Canoe over a 60 Foot Waterfall

Twenty years ago, a few open boaters, such as Dave Simpson, pioneered the hardest steep creeks alongside the best whitewater kayakers at the time. But since then, kayaking’s progression has rapidly outpaced canoeing in design and technique – especially when it comes to running huge waterfalls. This is partly inherent of the craft; open boats are bigger and their centre of gravity is higher. They’re more difficult to hike in and out of remote regions, as the above video demonstrates. Plus there is something about paddling a canoe that just relaxes you – maybe this has also…
  • Get Paid to Ride Your Bike

Those who signed up in time will get a $1 credit to spend at Competitive Cyclist for every hour they spend on their bike (recorded by Strava). Photo: Flickr (will_cyclist). For cyclists, by that I mean people who pedal more often than the occasional Sunday bike ride, the sport can be pretty expensive. While, as long as you look after your equipment, the requiring costs are low, a decent bike can set you back a few thousand pounds/dollars. And with the raw materials increasing in price, it’s getting more difficult to find a well equipped roady for less that £1000 ($1500). Plus the…
  • End of Ski season? Time for Grass Boarding!

    Ben
    21 Apr 2015 | 9:58 am
A few days ago we posted this rad video showing a couple of skiers hammering down Mount Etna on the Isle of Scilly! They proved that volcanic ash made a pretty good substitute for snow!  But what if you don’t have snow or ash? No need to panic – it turns out you can still have a blast on a grass hill as these guys, from Austria, found out during the spring melt. They do make it look super easy though; grass has a fair amount of grip compared to snow! Give it a go this summer and let me know how you get on in the comments below. The post End of Ski season? Time for Grass…
  • Shredding San Diego in Road Bike Party 3

    21 Apr 2015 | 6:57 am
Road Bike Party 3 landed back in December 2014! But I was so busy replaying RBP 1 and 2 that I forgot to post it on ADAPT. It was worth the wait though; this edit is packed with boundary-pushing insanity on a road bike. Presented by Martyn Ashton and starring Sam Pilgrim, Road Bike Party hits the southern Californian dirt. The third instalment in the famous RBP series from Martyn Ashton sees the team head to the USA with mountain biker Sam Pilgrim taking the reins. It’s truly mind-blowing watching Sam push a carbon Ridley Noah as hard as possible on the dirt. Kitted out with Vision…
  • Super Stable Action Sports Footage with the Freefly MIMIC

    16 Apr 2015 | 8:46 am
Ever wondered how the pros capture silky smooth video footage in fast-motion action sports shots. For big budget projects, a whole bunch of image stabilising tech is employed, but may no longer be needed. The MIMIC from Freefly Systems is a two handed UAV controller that remotely controls a motorised stabilisation mount (gimbal), enabling super smooth video capture, even in fast motion. Just take a look at the video below where photographer Chase Jarvis puts the MIMIC through it’s paces. To capture and stabilise the footage the MIMIC employs Freefly’s MōVI Control method.
