Nonetheless, this feels like a year where I need to be in the demos, part of the numbers swelling the crowd, if not part of the noise it makes. So, yesterday, I was part of the anti austerity demo which assembled in Piccadilly Gardens. Police say there were 500 of us, the organisers claim 2000. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight No. 1 contender, Conor McGregor, tried to make a fool out of reigning division kingpin, Jose Aldo, by snatching his 145-pound title during last month's UFC 189 "World Tour," a traveling circus designed to promote their July 11 pay-per-view (PPV) fight in Las Vegas, Nevada. See the video here. Do safety concerns around powdered alcohol have any base in reality? Powdered alcohol is a thing. Don’t know if it will ever be available in the UK. In the US, where it’s not on sale yet, there’s already a huge moral panic over it. Wired had one mad person mix up a home made version to see if there was any basis to the fears. Result? Of course there wasn’t. Source: We Experimented With Powdered Alcohol So You Don’t Have To | WIRED Related Tags:

There was a time in the not-too-distant past when mixed martial arts (MMA) fans were bellyaching over the championship title reign of Anthony Pettis, because "Showtime" was always injured and hardly ever defended his title. Not much has changed. Rafael dos Anjos was able to capture the crown at UFC 185 back in March, but like Pettis before him, won't be able to defend his title in a timely manner due to injury. The Brazilian suffered a torn MCL and has yet to be medically cleared to return to training. That means we could be without a lightweight title defense until December,…

While Jon Jones continues to "soul search" in the wake of his latest legal fiasco, which cost him his Light Heavyweight title and ability to compete for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Daniel Cormier is taking his victory laps. Cormier now holds the 205-pound belt that "Bones" was forced to vacate thanks to a submission win over Anthony Johnson in the main event of UFC 187 last weekend (watch video highlights here). No one, though, has forgotten about Jones -- the pound-for-pound best prior to his suspension -- including Cormier, who emphatically advised him to "get his shit together"…

But with just two fights under the ZUFFA banner, it's a bit premature to start talking about a potential title fight against Ronda Rousey. Unless... The injury that forced Ben Henderson out of his lightweight scrap against Michael Johnson -- which was planned for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 21 Finale on July 12, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada -- is being kept under wraps, as "Smooth" refuses to divulge any information regarding his mysterious boo-boo. If you ask Johnson, "Smooth" seems to have come down with a case of fear, and he's convinced the former lightweight champion is afraid to step in the cage with him. "The Menace" talks…

I’m going to do a little recap of where he’s been so far and how you can find out where he’ll be at next. Check out this old post about 6 Tricks with Tanner Fox He was picked up from the airport by his friend and fellow scooter rider Sammy. They then headed to Bunker skatepark to get some shredding in. • Make a Greek Proud, Don’t Piss Off a Greek

    chris
    14 May 2015 | 2:24 am
Philosophically speaking, better forget about even trying to piss off a Greek for a long time. Especially one from the islands. You can make a Greek proud, though. Perhaps it is the sun or the essence of “Job’s patience” we carry, or perhaps the vastness of our sea. Who really knows? it works. We do not actually start wars, but we take a stand when it is needed in order to fight for the right thing. Chances are, if you try to piss off a Greek – and if you are lucky- you will both end up drinking beers, Ouzo or Raki, and savoring “mezedes”, or they will…

Have you ever met a Greek mother? It is Mother’s day today and maybe you visited Greece or plan to, or you may have Greek friends around the world, or maybe your roommate is a Greek. Next time you may hear these phrases from their Greek mothers, it is good to know what they mean. What a Greek Mother will say and what it means Keep your eyes fourteen! (Means: to be cautious). The feet revolted and want to hit the head (Means: denouncing authority). I ate the whole world to find you (Means: I looked everywhere). That’s just a small chandelier (Means: It’s not that big a…

Photo: Getty Images/Red Bull Content Pool. The most iconic Formula 1 race of the season, in the Mediterranean mountain-side Principality of Monaco, proved just why it’s still on the race calendar during Sunday’s race. While at times the narrow twisting streets looked to host a formation-lap finish, insane passing manoeuvres and team-blunders showed that anything can happen at the Monaco GP. When it came to the finish, a pitstop mistake by Mercedes took almost guaranteed victory away from Lewis Hamilton and handed it to his team-mate Nico Rosberg on a silver-platter. Rosberg says…

What happens when a Rollerblade street-athlete races against his friend who is a speed skater? The dudes at Rollerblade decided to find out, pitting street skater Adrian Deck against Jomar—a seriously fast speed skater. To even the odds in a straight-out-speed race, the route had been laid out in Deck’s hometown of Aarau, Switzerland.
