My current work in progress is another Irwin race against time chase around Manchester. One of the spurs was a Government proposal to contract out running of childrens homes to private interests. Which has always worked out so well in the past. On that hook, I hung a story inspired by some of the darker rumours about institutional child abuse and pumped it up. Now, frighteningly, it looks like reality is almost as bad as the over the top take I’m writing. BBC News – Historical abuse inquiry: Police examine 'possible homicide'.

Do-it-yourself vehicle maintenance check list A car or auto maintenance check consists of a list of regular, simple inspections that are carried out to insure that a vehicle operates smoothly and at ultimate capacity. It is important to maintain a vehicle properly and detect difficulties as soon as possible. The quicker a problem can be prevented or fixed, the less damage needs fixing and the cheaper the repair will cost. Routine car maintenance should be done at regular intervals and will depend on where you live and what season it is. It really makes a difference if you are driving the…

I think the industry is going in the direction of bigger parts (125mm wheels, 22 long decks, taller and wider bars, etc) but for now 110mm and 100mm are the main wheel sizes. Kids sometimes don't understand the difference between the two and are confused on…

Most people feel a lot of pressure during competition day because of a few things. Maybe there sponsor is there watching them, or their parents are there, or there just nervous in general because they have to ride in front of a large crowd. Whatever the case may be, you should not be nervous during a comp. I’m going to go over some things that have helped me, and hopefully you can take what you've learned and apply it to yourself to compete at a better level.

    18 Nov 2014 | 2:31 am
If you have ever been for mountain hiking on any of the Greek mountains you definitely have experienced that amazing beauty of the change of scenery and the open unobstructed gazing at the horizon. It’s an amazing feeling that gives birth to awe, peace, respect and a feeling of achievement. All these and more are present and enhanced at the moment of stepping at the top of the mountain and stick a big smile at your phase. The meeting point for mountain hiking We met at Nestani. This is a small village around 80 minutes from Athens (by car). Nothing significant to see in the village apart…
  • A Scuba Diving Revelation at Corinthia

A guest experience by Daphne Mavrommati. A Corinth adventurer. Scuba diving was a revelation I was not expecting… Gazing at the silver bubbles of the other divers floating towards the surface I was sorry not to be a poet or a writer of talent to find the right words to express their beauty. So with less exciting prose I want to say that: The combination of the amazing gift of weightlessness; the sounds of silence (the sounds of your inhalation and then your exhalation of bubbles); the “unnatural” proximity to swimming fish which completely ignore you; the all-pervading blue…

A guest experience by Daphne Mavrommati. A Corinth adventurer. After scuba diving, canyoning was a revelation of an altogether different order. I realized two things: Firstly, that I get myself into small or big adventures far too thoughtlessly (and usually alone on top of that). Only when the security belt was tied around my waist and the security brief started (Fanis said: “If you don’t hold on to that rope you will die”) did it dawn on me that, what I was about to do might actually be dangerous and even life-threatening. What was I thinking? Well, I wasn’t! As I…

    11 Nov 2014 | 3:51 am
Did we tasted wine and ate tasteful food and learned about history? Not just that… We tasted life through all 5 senses, we tasted the essence of the area, its fruits and spirit(s) and we got close with the roots and origins of the country, through history. But, allow us to tell the story… It was that time of the day in the mid-week where we were looking to do something completely different in the approaching weekend. Well, we must have thought of it quite intensively, as an invitation flew in -through Facebook- to visit Nemea for an event that would combine wine tasting, tour-guiding…

“My dad told me everything he learned about fire was from Apaches. Apaches were well known to be warriors—fierce, the last to surrender to the government. At the same time, fire doesn’t care who you are. It will take you out whenever it wants to. We’re just in the way.” These words, from a firefighter, open this recent short documentary profiling the Geronimo Hotshots. The Hotshots are a group of elite wildfire firefighters from the San Carlos Apache Reservation in southeastern Arizona, USA. Unemployment in the area is high, and firefighting jobs are one of the few…

Ken Block is back with a bang, actually the sound of tortured tyres – but you get the idea. The seventh installment in his insane Gymkhana video series is out for the Hoonigan franchise and it’s a bit different from his previous edits. Don’t worry though, there’s still plenty of rubber-burning madness to enjoy! The streets of LA provide a fitting backdrop for Gymkhana 7, with the varying urban, suburban and mountain landscape hosting drift and doughnut perfection. The film sees Block racing passed some famous landmarks, including Chinatown, Randy’s Donuts and even…

The Dervish Sama’s new look is the result of Loaded Boards’ exploration in color theory and geometry. Photo from Loaded Boards. There comes a time in every board’s life when it just begs for a new outfit. That time has come for Loaded Boards’ beloved Dervish Sama. Continuing Loaded’s exploration in color theory and geometry, they looked deeper into Bauhaus principles to create this homage to the circle. By exposing multiple forms over one another, they were able to exemplify the arcing and flowing movements possible on this carving board and honor the whirling…

Over 400 people expressed their feelings towards the G-20 climate change blackout. Screen grab from YouTube video. More than 400 protesters stuck their heads in the sand of Australia’s Bondi Beach on Thursday. This was the second ‘head in the sand’ protest held in Australia this year, the first demonstration was held back in September in Queensland, and included 80 people. The ‘head in the sand’ protest was to campaign against the decision of the Australian government, to ignore climate change on the agenda of a G20 summit over the weekend. Instead they wanted to…
